WHAT THE HELL IS TWITTER?

Let me cut to the chase -

Twitter is many things to many people but what often goes unnoticed is that it can be an incredibly powerful marketing & community building tool with the ability to develop your brand, build relationships with your audience and provide a promotional medium that has the ability to go viral! In this guide I have tried to present a complete picture of Twitter and show techniques / tool/ guidelines for Twitter usage for all kinds of people.

However this is a blog about Internet marketing so I do have certain bias towards using Twitter for marketing purposes. If you are really serious about using Twitter for your marketing purposes then I can highly recommend the Twitter Rockstar course which teaches you how to dominate your niche using Twitter.Twitter is for staying in touch and keeping up with friends no matter where you are or what you're doing."

Wikipedia says, "Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows users to send updates via SMS, instant messaging, email, to the Twitter website, or any one of the multitude of Twitter applications now available".

Twitter asks the question, "What are you doing?" and allows you to send a small update (limited to just 140 characters) to your followers. The concept is amazingly simple and that is perhaps one of the main reasons why it has caught on like wildfire. The restriction to 140 characters has resulted in Twitter being labeled "micro blogging".

A traditional blog is a log of what somebody is up to, but in a richer, more detailed format. One of the key benefits of Twitter is that you can send and receive updates (also called tweets) via your browser, email , instant messaging clients and SMS so you can keep in touch no matter where you are. I started a new account on Twitter,you can by the way have lots of free accounts for different niches,however try to concentrate on one first and how to get followers-

Any way this account on Twitter called 1970 Aussie Cars, as I love cars,kicked off with me putting a few simple micro posts up-really just talking about myself and also making comments of other peoples Tweets.Then I looked for people to follow really easy using Twitter-now following 760 people with 720 following me back-

This builds up in a short time-great part is if you like a persons post send them a personal Tweet-Never scam people with your business URL or links to shitty selling products-build rapport,then people will have respect to look at anything you recommend.

Also I joined Tweet  Later (Socialomph) this is free to join and you have the ability to vet your followers to see if you like them and perhaps the best tool is you can personalize your message that gets sent by Twitter when someone follows you-great stuff-here do not put anything about your self,just thank them for joining you,no links to your website please.Again this is free,do not fear putting in you Twitter user name or password all safe.

Then I went to Twitter Karma another great free tool-Here you control who you follower and who is following you-no point in having 500 people you follow and they do not follow you-get rid of them to find people that like your Tweets. Very safe to use,your password is never kept-Again another great free tool.

So we are now building followers every hour of the day,there are some quick short cuts to this by buying information how to get thousand of followers in a short time,as mentioned earlier Rockstar is good,also a little cheaper to join is Twitter Tan  this is really up to you,however once you see the power of Twitter you get this huge desire for more followers,it is addictive and fun. This is going to be a on going post as I learn more about Twitter and the power it gives us to be seen to thousands-Hope that has helped a little to wet your appetite for Twitter. Just a quick update 10/31/2009

I have just joined a really interesting system for free that pays me to Tweet for advertisers called Sponsored Tweets

Only joined today so at this stage waiting for advertisers to connect with me-They recommended I go for $3.99 per tweet earnings per advertiser,however I reduced it to a $1.50 to start getting some sponsored ads real quick. When I start making some money will up date this post.You need a Twitter account set up and looks like you need to have had that account for 200 days,still finding my way around the site and reading all the faq etc-I must admit it looks rather good.

Also I am going to consider being a advertiser once I find what the costs are-Again will keep up dating this post-Remember it is free to join so well worth a look. I joined by the direct page loggining in with my Twitter account name-seems safe and easy. Noticed many celebrities on board with this platform-Have a look and give me some feed back.
